Liverpool have already been linked with a whole host of players ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Anfield outfit are in dire need of reinforcement, especially since the club are currently sitting outside of the top four.

Arne Slot's future has already been questioned multiple times but, no matter what happens to the Reds, the Dutchman seems to keep his place at Liverpool's manager.

Fenway Sports Groups' lack of urgency to get rid of Slot sort of gives the impression that the former Feyenoord boss will be kept at the helm for the foreseeable future.

With this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see several players being linked with an Anfield switch.

And, although Liverpool are in a good place to make negotiations work, it seems like some of their Premier League rivals also have their eyes on the same players.

Tottenham have entered the race for Liverpool transfer target Mateus Mane this summer

One thing that has been made clear throughout the 2025-26 season is that Liverpool need to massively improve their ranks.

The Anfield outfit have a lot of improvements that they need to make across the board with their defence and midfield high on Slot and Richard Hughes' priority list.

This is where Mateus Mane comes in. The 18-year-old has been one of Wolves' best players this season which is why they want around £50 million for him.

Interest in the youngster has been rife and now, another Premier League club seem to have entered the race.

That is, according to an update from Sports Boom who share that Spurs are 'plotting a swoop' for the midfielder.

Igor Tudor's men hope that if they can survive Premier League relegation this term that they'll have enough to convince Mane to join them.

Spurs are willing to offer the seven-goal star 'regular first-team football' with the £50 million fee that Wolves desire fitting into Spurs' plans.

Sports Boom outline that Liverpool are also interested in the youngster but, they'd only be able to offer him 'intermittent action' due to the amount of depth among their ranks.

Mateus Mane has been in fine form for Wolves this season

Although Wolves may be sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, Mane has been a breath of fresh air at the Molineux.

The midfielder has contributed to 13 goals across all competitions this season and has played in just about every attacking position.

This level of versatility is unheard of for most players this season and, even though there have been a few games when the youngster hasn't been at his best, his last two outings against Liverpool proved why half of the Premier League want him.

Before the 2025-26 season, most football fans hadn't heard of the youngster but now, pundits such as Paul Merson believe that he could become a "superstar" in the future.

And as per Sofascore, in Liverpool's Premier League clash against Wolves on 3 March, Mane managed to maintain a pass accuracy of 80 per cent and he only lost possession of the ball six times.

His off the ball work was also impressive with most of Wolves' chances coming from a pass made by the 18-year-old.

There's obviously still ways for him to work on his game as he's still young but on the face of things, it feels like the midfielder could be an exceptional transfer for Liverpool, even if he does cost them around £50 million.
