Liverpool bounce back with win over Fulham | OneFootball

Liverpool bounced back from defeat against Paris Saint-Germain with a comfortable victory at home to Fulham.

Manager Arne Slot made five changes to the side that were lucky to escape with a 2-0 defeat in Paris with two of those players scoring in a more familiar opening 45 minutes from the Reds.

The home side took a deserved lead in the 36th minute and it was all through the work of 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha. The youngster picked up the ball on the left and toyed with the Fulham defence before curling an effort in off the inside of the post.

It was that kind of play that helped Liverpool make it 2-0. This time instead of shooting the teenager moved the ball on to Cody Gakpo who then found Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian wrapped his left foot around the shot and gave Bernd Leno no chance.

The visitors improved in the second half and certainly had chances to get back in the game. Indeed, the ball was in the net after Emile Smith Rowe had a shot blocked that Saša Lukic followed up on but he was offside.

With just over an hour gone Harry Wilson's corner found an unmarked Rodrigo Muniz in the box. The Brazilian didn't get a good contact with his header hitting Florian Wirtz but not finding a way in.

Later, Ryan Sessegnon put in a volleyed cross across goal that Smith Rowe got to the end of but fired his shot wide.

Slot will be worried about the number of chances his team conceded later on but this was overall a much-improved performance for the Reds who are closer to guaranteeing Champions League football for next season.
