Liverpool bidding to record a third straight Premier League win when they host Crystal Palace
Liverpool have been handed a triple fitness boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.
Arne Slot’s side are looking to build on last weekend’s Merseyside derby win over Everton and boost hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Among the host of senior players absent from the matchday squad at the Hill Dickinson Stadium was versatile defender Joe Gomez.
Gomez had featured in the 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain a few days before, but was ruled out of the Everton game by Slot when speaking in the pre-match press conference.
Alisson Becker and midfielder Wataru Endo also sat out the Merseyside derby, the latter has been sidelined since February when he was stretchered off during the win over Sunderland.
In a triple boost for Slot, all three players have been spotted in training on Thursday as preparations begin for the visit of Crystal Palace.
Of the trio, it is likely that Gomez will be in contention to face the Eagles, but Slot will provide an update when he speaks to the media on Friday morning.
Alisson, meanwhile, has missed the last six games through injury and recent reports have suggested the Brazilian was targeting a return to action against Manchester United on May 3.
Giorgi Mamardashvili has been deputising for Alisson in recent weeks, though he is set to miss the Crystal Palace game with a knee injury sustained in the win over Everton.
“Thank God everything is fine,” Mamardashvili wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you all so much for your support and for being by my side.
“I’ll be back soon. Big win in the derby and three points.”
