Liverpool are in trouble. Of that there is no doubt. They have lost four on the spin for the first time in more than 10 years - piling the pressure on Arne Slot.

The issue is even more profound when you consider the £450m spent on new signings over the summer. Those transfers - including two British-record deals - were supposed to make Liverpool better. But right now they look worse than at any other point under Slot.

The squad looks lopsided - with Slot using players out of position to plug holes - while both the defence and attack is malfunctioning.

Liverpool won the 2024/25 Premier League title on a bedrock of a tight defence but they have only shut out the opposition on TWO occasions this season.

Liverpool struggling at both ends

That is a worrying statistic for Virgil van Dijk and co - with the strike line usually requiring at least two goals to win any game. And up top there are alarm bells ringing.

Having managed seven goals in their first two Premier League games of the season - the record-breaking attack including Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak have struggled to get going.

Right now Liverpool need to blow one team away in order to get their confidence back. And there is reason to believe that they are about to turn a corner.

Arne Slot’s side visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night for their third Champions League match of the season. And it could be just what's needed.

Liverpool will BLOW Frankfurt away

Why?

Because Frankfurt are one of the leakiest teams around. They have conceded SIX goals in only two Champions League games - including five on matchday two against Atletico.

Current first-choice goalkeeper Kaua Santos has conceded 18 goals in only FIVE appearances in all competitions - including a late howler in the weekend’s 2-2 draw against Freiburg.

No Bundesliga team has let in more than Frankfurt’s 18 goals in seven top-flight matches to date. And only Metz, Lorient and Girona have conceded more in the top five leagues.

Although they are capable of getting a goal themselves - as the German league’s second-highest scorers - they have looked vulnerable to all kinds of attacks thus far this term.

Bring on Frankfurt

There is a palpable lack of leadership at the back while Dino Toppmoller’s team seem prone to all kinds of individual errors. Santos is shaky and they appear to miss last season’s first-choice keeper Kevin Trapp badly.

If Liverpool can keep it tight at the back - and restrict Can Uzun and Ritsu Doan to the occasional shot or two - then there is no reason why they cannot run up the score and get back on track. We could be in for a feast of goals on Wednesday night. Bring it on.
