Liverpool could be back to the negotiating table with Newcastle United. They've got one of their star players on an important shortlist.
Liverpool and Newcastle United were engaged in the biggest transfer of the summer as the Reds sought to sign Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker essentially went on strike throughout the window, trying to force his club's hand.
And it eventually worked. It probably would have worked even sooner if the Magpies had been able to sign any of their preferred targets, too.
But it still brought a lot of bad blood between all parties. That all led to a hostile fixture between the two at St James' Park before the move went through, with fans generating an intense atmosphere and Newcastle, in particular, responding in kind on the pitch.
Because ultimately, it wasn't a sale Newcastle wanted to make. Liverpool and Isak forced them into it - something that generated a lot of bad blood.

And now they might be ready to do it all again.
Liverpool need a centre-back in 2026. Giovanni Leoni's long-term injury could keep him out for a year, while there are major questions over the future of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate.
The former was set to leave Liverpool in August as the Reds sought Marc Guehi. Konate is very much heading towards an exit as his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Naturally, then, the Reds are looking at options. Talksport claims that one of those on the shortlist is Sven Botman, currently Newcastle's star defender.
