Liverpool flop ready for Real Madrid switch if Xabi Alonso asks for it – report | OneFootball

A potentially explosive transfer scenario is beginning to take shape, and it could place Real Madrid at the centre of another major European storyline. 

According to a recent report from Fichajes, Florian Wirtz would be open to joining the Spanish giants but only under one very specific condition. 

The midfielder is reportedly willing to sign for Real Madrid if Xabi Alonso personally requests his arrival.

Wirtz’s much-talked-about move to Liverpool last summer has not unfolded as expected. 

Signed for a fee close to €140 million, the German international arrived with enormous expectations but has struggled to impose himself consistently. 

His performances have fallen short of what was anticipated, and in a season where scrutiny has been relentless, he has already been labelled by sections of the media as one of the campaign’s major disappointments.

At that price point, patience is limited, which is why a player valued at such a level cannot rely on reputation alone.

Output and influence are non-negotiable, and when those elements fail to materialise, difficult decisions follow. 

It is within this context that an alternative route has begun to gather momentum.

Open to Real Madrid move

Real Madrid, in many ways, appear to be a natural destination. Not only because of the club’s global stature, but also due to the profile of footballers who have historically thrived at the Santiago Bernabeu. 

Spanish football, with its emphasis on positioning and ball retention, could suit Wirtz far better than the physically intense rhythm of the Premier League. 

Yet the defining element in this story is Alonso. The Real Madrid coach knows Wirtz’s qualities in detail and understands both his ceiling and his limitations. 

This is why if Alonso is convinced that Wirtz is the right piece to elevate Madrid’s midfield, the club would be prepared to listen. 

However, the main obstacle would be Wirtz’s pricetag because, as many can suspect, they would not want to bear a significant loss in this deal.
