The U18s came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 against Wolverhampton. Meanwhile the U21s finally got a long-awaited victory in the Premier League 2 beating the best possible foe in Everton in the mini-derby.
Rob Page's men ran out 4-1 winners on Sunday afternoon with Keyrol Figueroa scoring a hat-trick. There was more to smile about for the Reds with Clae Ewing making a return to action after 235 days out injured as confirmed on his Instagram account.
The versatile Liverpool teenager, who has mostly played as a left-back recently came on to play 31 minutes and looked sharp despite missing so much time.
He suffered an injury back in March of this year, right after making impressive strides and earning a promotion to the club's U19 and U21 sides.
He was especially impressive on his debut for the U21s last season against Stoke City. Ewing produced a stellar performance winning six out of his 10 duels and making five interceptions.
He looked good offensively, too, making 18 forward passes and always looking to instigate attacks for his team.
It's great to see the young man now back on the pitch again. Ewing is highly rated by the club's staff. He's someone who reads the game well, and his ability to play in a number of different positions is something that makes him a useful option to keep around at Anfield.
Still only 18-years-old, although he will be turning 19-years-old on October 29th, Ewing has a long career ahead of him. His goal for the next few months will be to continue his rehabilitation and play as much as possible.
Ultimately, the long-term aim will be for him to go out on loan and get some experience at senior level preferably in the Football League somewhere.
Ultimately, his status as a versatile player could very well make him an option for the first-team and put him in contention to be part of the rotation.
But that is looking too far into the future. Right now, it's just great to see the young man return and play games again.
