Liverpool are moving on from Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King, 33, will leave the club at the end of the current season. Having signed a £400k per week, two-year contract extension last year it was expected that Salah would bow out in 2027.

But owing to a disagreement with Arne Slot a decision has been taken to rip up his deal a year ahead of schedule. That puts Salah in full control over his next move - and leaves Liverpool searching for a replacement in the short term.

Arne Slot is prioritising one-v-one quality out wide for the summer transfer window - and we could see improvements made on either side of the attack.

Bazoumana Toure and Bradley Barcola are two names frequently linked with a move to the Premier League champions.

Liverpool doing due diligence on Diomande

But right now one name stands out above all others and if a deal can be done then Liverpool will be right there for Yan Diomande’s signature.

The Ivorian superstar has been at RB Leipzig since summer 2025 - joining from Spanish side Leganes for only £18m. The 19-year-old has taken to life in the Bundesliga with relish - scoring 12 goals and emerging on the transfer radar for several top European clubs.

With Diomande under contract until 2030 Leipzig will be confident of extracting a mammoth fee for the winger - who can play either side of the frontline.

Leipzig bosses see Diomande as a €100m (£87m) player - and haven’t ruled out keeping the African star for another season. Trusted Liverpool reporter Dominic King has now weighed in on the transfer saga - confirming the club’s interest.

Liverpool won't pay €100m for Yan Diomande

He does however admit that the price would need to come down before Richard Hughes was tempted to make a move.

“Yan Diomande, the €100m-rated teenager at RB Leipzig, is being tracked carefully,” the report for the Telegraph reads.

“Liverpool have done due diligence and spoken to the Ivory Coast international’s advisors but that is only standard procedure – no decision has been made about launching a move, particularly not at that huge valuation.”

Having spent £125m on Alexander Isak and another £116m on Florian Wirtz last summer - not to mention the £69m that went to Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike - Liverpool may well be seeking a cut-price move for a wide man this summer instead.
