French forward has emerged as Reds’ top target

Liverpool have been handed a huge boost in their transfer pursuit of Bradley Barcola.

The Reds have made the young winger their top target this summer after they missed out Yan Diomande, who is set to join Real Madrid in a deal worth of €100million.

As such, it has forced Andoni Iraola and the Anfield hierarchy to look elsewhere as they seek to strengthen their wide areas.

The Merseysiders lost star man Mohamed Salah at the end of last season after the Egyptian’s contract expired, and he departed Anfield with Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers.

Now, they are firmly in talks with Paris over a deal for Barcola, with the 23-year-old not thought to be keen on signing a new contract at the Parc des Princes.

It has meant that Liverpool’s interest in the Frenchman has intensified, while the Champions League winners have seemingly already landed his replacement.

Maghnes Akliouche, the Monaco forward, is set to arrive from Monaco for €50m, according to RMC Sport, and that should open the door for the Premier League outfit to make an official approach to sign Barcola.

The Reds have previously been quoted €170m (£145m), in light of the fees that both Nottingham Forest and Newcastle received for Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali respectively from Manchester City and Tottenham.

Diomande’s move to Madrid for over €100m is also likely to be fresh in PSG’s minds, despite their reported disappointment that the Ivorian elected to make the switch to La Liga rather than to the French capital.
