According to The Athletic, Liverpool opened talks on Tuesday with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to replace Arne Slot, who left less than 72 hours ago.
Iraola led the Cherries to sixth in the Premier League and Europa League qualification, a first in the club’s history.
Out of contract, the Basque has not set out his plans and could be on Merseyside next season. Liverpool finished fifth in 2025-26, clinching Champions League entry by three points over Bournemouth.
The report added he was viewed as the early favourite after Slot’s exit. He is said to be interested, and Liverpool want a swift appointment.
Talks are being handled by sporting director Richard Hugues, who previously appointed Iraola at Bournemouth in 2023 and knows him well.
