Hugo Ekitike made an instant impact from his very first moments at Liverpool. In an interview this weekend, he reflected on his rapid rise since his summer transfer.

Ekitike joined Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt for around €95 million, making him one of the most expensive French players in football history. Trained at Reims, he experienced a less glamorous spell at PSG before rediscovering his form in Germany. Liverpool decided to go all-in on him, convinced of his potential.

Right from the Community Shield against Crystal Palace, he found the back of the net. He then followed up with another goal in the league against Bournemouth, and soon became a regular starter under Arne Slot. After five rounds of the English Premier League, Hugo Ekitike has notched up three goals and one assist. Asked about his impressive start, the 23-year-old emphasized the hard work behind his performances.

"My start? Does it feel like a dream? No, I wouldn't call it a dream because, to be honest, I worked for this. From the outside, it might seem surprising, but for me, it's not. I was already putting up numbers last year and now I'm in a good team that suits me well. But above all, I want to be a player known for consistency," he said.
