In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Liverpool have identified Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as a January target. It has been mentioned that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the Italian centre-back to Anfield in this winter transfer window.

Bastoni’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season

The 26-year-old has made an impressive start to this campaign after he put in a string of solid displays for Inter on the defensive end of the field. Bastoni has played in 13 matches for the Italian outfit this season, scoring one goal and grabbing four assists in all competitions.

The Italy international has been a rock at the back for the Milan giants as he has made 18 tackles, six blocks, six interceptions and 26 clearances in Serie A. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 84.4% in the Italian first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on the cheap this January.

Will Bastoni Be A Good Choice For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Bastoni is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can use his strong 1.90m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels.

However, only time will tell whether the Italian defensive ace can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds manage to snap him up next year.
