There is an extraordinary talent being lined-up to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

What a reign it has been. Salah is by far and away one of the best players to have ever played for the Reds. He is closing in on 250 goals for the club in all competitions, which is a number only two players have reached for Liverpool in the past - Sir Roger Hunt and Ian Rush.

In total, he has 363 goal contributions in 405 appearances for Liverpool. A remarkable number that few players in world football can match.

Salah is one of a kind. He will go down as an eternal legend.

He'll also be impossible to replace when the time ultimately comes to it. Even with Richard Hughes in charge, nobody will be able to reach the same standards and heights Salah had achieved at the club. Nor should they be expected to.

Thankfully, Liverpool don't have to be worried about replacing Salah for the next two years or so. He's under contract until 2027 and he's still going strong beginning the season with five goal contributions in his first six games.

Internally though the reality is that Liverpool will already be thinking about solutions to fill the Salah void when the Egyptian ultimately departs.

And they may already be preparing an extraordinary talent in the club's academy to take on the reins and succeed his throne.

Why Joshua Abe could replace Salah in the future

15-year-old Joshua Abe is a player Liverpool have extremely high hopes for. He's regarded as one of the best young players in the country for his age group and recently showed that with two goals in two games for England's U16 national team in back-to-back games against Italy.

Abe is already training with Liverpool's U18 side despite only turning 15 in the summer.

He scored for the U18s in pre-season and he's now also made his debut for the U21s in a friendly game against Bolton Wanderers.

Deployed as a left-winger in that game, Abe is actually a left-footed right-winger.

A very direct and extremely fast winger, he's a special talent with an incredible ability to cut in from the right and unleash ferocious efforts on goal.

He demonstrated that recently with a wonderful strike against Aston Villa in the Premier League Cup for Liverpool's U17 side.

Abe scored two goals and registered two assists in a 9-1 rout once again playing an age group above his own.
