Liverpool open talks with another key after new deal at Anfield
Liverpool started talks to extend another player’s contract after renewing Ryan Gravenberch’s deal.
Liverpool are working to secure the future of their key players as the club looks to keep stability in the squad led by coach Arne Slot.
After confirming a new long-term contract for midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool have now turned their attention to another important player in the middle of the pitch, Alexis Mac Allister.
Club officials see Mac Allister as a key figure in the team because of his role in linking defense and attack and controlling the rhythm of the game.
Reports indicate that Liverpool have already opened talks with the Argentine midfielder to extend his current contract and avoid interest from other European clubs.
According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Liverpool have begun discussions with Mac Allister about a new deal that would keep him at Anfield for several more years.
The club wants to improve the midfielder’s salary and contract conditions to reflect his importance to the team. Liverpool also hope the move will send a clear message to clubs monitoring the player that he remains central to their long-term project.
Mac Allister become one of the most reliable players in Slot’s system this season, with 41 appearance and five goal in all competitions.
Mac Allister recently caused concern after leaving the pitch during Liverpool’s 3-1 FA Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
The midfielder appeared to jar his knee and received treatment before being replaced by young player Trey Nyoni. However Slot later downplayed the issue and suggested that the injury was not serious, saying he believed the player was fine.
His availability remains important as Liverpool prepare for a busy run of matches including Champions League games against Galatasaray, a Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur and FA Cup quarter-final.
Meanwhile Liverpool officially confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch has signed a new long-term contract at the club’s AXA Training Centre.
The Dutch midfielder said he was proud to extend his stay at Liverpool and explained that the trust shown by the club and coaching staff made the decision easy.
He also noted that his family feels comfortable living in the city after nearly three year there.
