Liverpool are marching towards the Premier League title as it looks like nobody is going to stop Arne Slot from creating history in his debut season with the club. But at the same time, we have seen them stumble on a few occasions as well. The need to strengthen further in the summer is clear and there is some news that will interest Celtic as well.
It looks like Trent Alexander-Arnold will be on his way out of Liverpool in the summer. All signs point towards him joining Real Madrid as a free agent when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Of course, Real Madrid have a great record of convincing world-class players to join them as free agents. Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Kylian Mbappe and more have done that over the years. Will Trent be the next name to join that impressive list? On the other hand, Liverpool will need to sign a high-profile replacement if he leaves.
As reported by PA media, Liverpool have held initial talks over the signing of Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong. Discussions are at an early point.
Frimpong is a former Celtic player. He left the club in 2021 to join Bayer Leverkusen and has developed into one of the most in-demand full-backs in the world since then.
Of course, his situation is of special interest to Celtic since they are believed to hold a sell-on clause in his deal. On the other hand, there is also believed to be a €40 million release clause in his Bayer Leverkusen contract.
To be very honest, if Liverpool are really interested in Frimpong, then they should not have much of a problem meeting that figure. That would bring a major windfall for Celtic as well.
