The outfit in question? Getafe.

John W. Henry has been in charge of Liverpool since back in 2010, when the American made use of his vast wealth to purchase a majority stake at Anfield.

Henry also owns both MLB franchise the Boston Red Sox, and NHL side the Pittsburgh Penguins.

For some time now, though, Fenway have been seeking out ownership of a 2nd European football club.

The likes of Toulouse and Málaga are understood to have been taken into serious consideration on the part of John Henry and those closest to him.

As alluded to above, though, it is one of La Liga’s most recognisable clubs who instead look set to be snapped up by the 76-year-old.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing English outlet The Sun:

‘After being informed of Liverpool’s interest, Getafe received a delegation from FSG who traveled to Madrid to take a closer look at the deal. The talks were very positive, and the American company’s bosses are now considering their next move.’
