Liverpool is bracing for a moment of release, a long-awaited expression of joy after decades of yearning. On Monday, the streets will flood with red as Liverpool Football Club stages its first Premier League title parade in 35 years. Though the title was officially secured in 2020, COVID-19 stole the spectacle, reducing celebration to a whisper. Now, with a second title sealed, the roar will finally come.
An estimated crowd of up to one million people is expected to line the 15-kilometre route, stretching from Allerton Maze to Blundell Street, near the city’s docks. This isn’t merely a parade, it’s a ritual of identity – a declaration of belonging. For many, it’s not just about silverware, but vindication.
The open-top bus will set off at 2:30 PM BST, heading north via Queens Drive, weaving through Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington and Leeds Street, before reaching The Strand and concluding at the waterfront. It’s a familiar path – the same trail followed in 2019 after Champions League glory and in 2022 following the domestic cup double.
To ensure safety, rolling road closures will be in place, with Liverpool City Council urging fans to take public transport or travel by foot or bike. Key roads like The Strand and Leeds Street will close from early morning through to the evening, while extra Merseyrail and bus services aim to keep the city moving.
Club captain Virgil van Dijk didn’t hold back in urging supporters to bring the noise. “We know how special our fans are and what these moments mean to them,” he said. “We want it to be even more special, and we want to share it with every single person who has supported us along the way.”
A digital version of the parade map is now available on the club’s official site, allowing fans to plan where to stand and witness the passing cavalcade.
The buzz won’t be confined to Monday. From the weekend onwards, Liverpool will pulse with activity. City officials have worked closely with residents and businesses to keep disruption minimal, but they’ve also been clear: expect crowds, be patient, and plan early.
For those unable to attend, the entire parade will be broadcast live on LFCTV GO, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and X. UK viewers can also tune in via Sky channel 425 or Virgin Media.
A parade three years overdue, now finally ready to unfold. And this time, no virus, no silence. Only noise, colour, movement and the enduring bond between Liverpool and its people.
