Inter Milan have seen a third offer for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones rejected out of hand, with the Nerazzurri’s latest informal proposal of €32 million falling well short of Liverpool’s stated valuation of upwards of €40 million.

According to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, via This Is Anfield, Liverpool dismissed the bid immediately, maintaining the same firm stance that has defined negotiations throughout the summer.

Inter have been persistent. Their opening proposals of £17.3 million and £21.7 million were viewed by Liverpool as so derisory that the club briefly communicated they no longer considered the Nerazzurri a realistic buyer. However, the Serie A champions have stayed at the table and, with €8 million now separating the two clubs, the gap is at least narrowing.

Liverpool Hold Firm as Jones Contract Clock Ticks

The 25-year-old enters the final 12 months of his current deal, giving the situation genuine urgency on both sides. Liverpool are nonetheless prepared to retain him – and if he stays, the club would open extension talks. No formal contract negotiations are underway as of yet.

Head coach Andoni Iraola has been explicit about his desire to keep Jones. Speaking to reporters, Iraola said he rates the midfielder highly and wants to keep him not only for the current season but for significantly longer, with Jones’s Scouse identity an additional factor in the manager’s thinking. Liverpool’s position is reinforced by the broader midfield market, with the club pointing to comparable deals – including Conor Gallagher’s €40 million move to Tottenham – as benchmarks for their valuation.

Jones returned to the AXA Training Centre early this week and is expected to travel with the first-team squad for their pre-season tour of the United States. Inter, for their part, have identified him as their priority midfield target this window, fitting the profile of a versatile, mid-prime Premier League midfielder suited to Simone Inzaghi’s rotation-heavy system.
