Egyptian railed against club in stunning interview on Saturday

Mohamed Salah will not travel with Liverpool to face Inter Milan, the club has confirmed.

Liverpool could climb back into the automatic qualification places with a win at the San Siro, but, despite participating in open training before the side’s departure, Salah will play no part in the match.

The Egyptian is in a stand-off with the club after he hit out at Arne Slot’s selection decisions in a bombshell interview after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds on Saturday.

The Egyptian was left out of the starting line-up at Elland Road for the third consecutive match and did not come off the bench.

Slot explained that he did not look to Salah as he wanted to shore up his defence late in the game instead, saying: "It was more about controlling the game [at 3-2] and we didn't need a goal. Normally when you need a goal, like last week against Sunderland, I brought Mo (Salah) on."

Speaking afterwards, though, Salah seemed to reject that explanation, saying his relationship with his coach had failed and suggesting that he could leave the club in January.

“I can’t believe it, that I'm sitting on the bench for 90 minutes,” he said.

“I don't know why I'm sitting on the bench. It feels like the club is throwing me under the bus, that's how I feel.

“This is not acceptable for me. I don’t know why this is happening to me. I don’t get it. I think if this was somewhere else, the club would protect its player.

"I've said a few times before that I have a good relationship with the manager and now all of a sudden we have no relationship. I don't know why.”

It remains to be seen whether Salah will be involved when Brighton visit Anfield on Saturday, Salah’s last match before joining up with the Egyptian national team for AFCON.

With the January transfer window looming, Salah has garnered transfer interest from both Saudi Pro League and MLS teams.

Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo have both been left out of the squad, too, after missing training this morning.
