Liverpool will reportedly not allow Curtis Jones to leave Anfield in the January transfer window amid interest from Inter Milan.
The Italian giants made overtures to the Reds over a possible loan deal with an option to buy. Spurs also made an approach for the midfielder earlier in the month, but signed Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid instead.
Inter’s pursuit was linked to Davide Frattesi’s potential move to Nottingham Forest, but Jones appears set to stay put even though Forest have agreed a deal to sign Frattesi.
According to Fabrizio Romano, “Liverpool are not opening doors for Curtis Jones exit in January” after Inter sent a loan proposal on Friday.
It is claimed that the Merseyside outfit will not let him leave on loan unless he signs a new contract. His current terms expire in 2027.
The Times report that Liverpool “will not sanction the departure of any senior players before the transfer window closes”.
The report adds that Inter wanted to take Jones on loan with a view to a €40 million transfer in the summer, though they accepted their proposal was a “long shot”
The 25-year-old has only started 10 games in the Premier League this season and was left out of the matchday squad for the midweek win over Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League.
