Liverpool have their eyes on the son of a truly legendary player. He could be heading to Anfield.

Tuttosport claims Liverpool are looking into a deal for Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram. Both Aston Villa and Manchester United are doing the same, just in case he becomes available.

Thuram, the son of legendary defender Lilian Thuram, has a contract running through 2029. Juventus are currently looking to extend that beyond 2030 after a brilliant campaign from the Frenchman.

That will require a pay-rise, of course, and the midfielder will be offered one. But it seems that the likes of Liverpool are waiting in the wings to apply some pressure there.

They'll want Thuram to reject an extension, perhaps convincing Juventus to sell in the process. The player won't want to extend his contract if he thinks it entirely eliminates a 'bigger' move.

But there's a long way to go on this one before it's a strong possibility. Right now, Liverpool are just looking at what could happen - a potential deal, should things fall a certain way.

Khepheran Thuram: Situation Summary

Renewed Transfer Interest

Reports from 5 March 2026 indicate that Liverpool are considering reviving their interest in the 24-year-old Frenchman, whom they were heavily linked with three years ago. Juventus reportedly value the midfielder between €65m and €75m (£55m–£64m). While Manchester United and Arsenal are also credited with interest, Liverpool’s pursuit is described as "advanced," with some reports suggesting an exploratory opening bid of €45m plus add-ons is being prepared. Juventus, however, are concurrently working to offer Thuram a new contract until 2030 to ward off Premier League suitors.

Performance and Recent Return

Thuram has been a vital presence for Juventus this season, making 36 appearances and contributing three goals and three assists across all competitions. After a brief "lower leg" injury sidelined him for a clash against Inter Milan in February, he made a successful return to the starting XI. On 7 March, he scored a rebound goal in a 4-0 victory over Pisa, his first goal since September. Known for his "box-to-box" style and physicality, he currently maintains a top speed of 31.8 km/h in European competition.

Analysis

There's no question that Liverpool will consider signing midfielders this summer. Thuram, if he were available, would be quite high up on their list, we imagine.

But it would take him rejecting a contract extension to make that happen. Doing so would force Juve to consider selling while his price is sky-high and that's something the Reds can take advantage of.

Still a ways to go here, then. One to watch going forward but don't expect an immediate deal.
