Liverpool in lead for £43m Camavinga deal

The 23-year-old Real Madrid star has won two Champions League titles with the Bernabeu outfit but his time finally seems to be up.

The France international signed from Rennes back in 2021 and is now contracted until 2029. But the pathway is clear for Liverpool to conduct a £43m deal for Camavinga this summer with the Anfield club described as favourites for his signature.

According to a report in TEAMtalk Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all in the running for Camavinga - with third parties reaching out to the Premier League’s top clubs about his availability.

“Intermediaries acting on behalf of Eduardo Camavinga have begun briefing clubs that the Real Madrid midfielder will be available for transfer this summer, with Liverpool currently leading the chase, but with Manchester United and Chelsea both also registering early interest,” the report reads.

“Representatives have already begun to explore their client’s next move, having made contact with several Premier League clubs to alert them to the 23-year-old’s situation ahead of the upcoming transfer window.”

LFC must eliminate Chelsea from Champions League race

Liverpool have got an added incentive to beat Chelsea to a Champions League place in the race for the top five.

Because the report states that Camavinga is leaning towards a London move with the catch being that the club involved needs to be in the Champions League.

Chelsea are in poor form under Liam Rosenior and could yet miss out in the shakeup for a place in next season’s Champions League.

“The France international would be keen on a move to London, although there is a key condition attached to any potential switch: the club pursuing him would need to be competing in the UEFA Champions League,” the report reads.

“Liverpool are also long-term admirers of the midfielder and remain what sources have described as ‘very attentive to his situation’.”
