The Reds sit 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with seven games left to play, and are counting down the days until they can lift title number 20. They’ll go into this game knowing how title rivals Arsenal have got on, with the Gunners facing Brentford on Saturday evening.

But Liverpool won’t really need to pay attention to anyone else. As long as they keep winning, they’ll be champions soon enough.

Liverpool team news vs West Ham

Alisson is available for Liverpool once again after passing concussion protocol, so should return in goal ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher. But Liverpool remain without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.

Curtis Jones continued at right-back in the defeat against Fulham last weekend, but Conor Bradley might take his place now that he his back from injury. Bradley came off the bench against Fulham to set up Luis Diaz’s goal.

The rest of the back four should remain the same, with Andrew Robertson on the left and Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate the centre-back pairing. The rest of the team should remain the same from the defeat against Fulham, even with the result.

Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are the go-to double pivot, with Dominik Szoboszlai in the No.10. Nobody will take Mo Salah’s right-wing spot from him, while Cody Gakpo appears to be the first-choice left-winger.

Diaz came off the bench to score against Fulham, though Arne Slot does seem to prefer Cody Gakpo at the moment. Darwin Nunez will also have to made do with a bench role, truly falling out of favour.

Salah hoping to celebrate

Liverpool go into the weekend off the back of the best news possible. Mo Salah has signed a new contract.

The Egyptian was out of contract at the end of the season and his future was seriously in doubt. He didn’t help things by his truthful speaking, having been unsure if he would remain at Liverpool. But he will, signing for another two season.

The best way for Salah to celebrate would be to break his recent duck. Salah has now gone four games without a goal or assist for Liverpool across all competitions. It’s his longest run without a goal involvement for the Reds since March 2021, when he also drew blanks across four matches.

Only once in his Liverpool career has Salah gone five games without a goal involvement, and that was in March 2019. He clearly just doesn’t like this time of year. In those past four games, Salah has taken six shots at an average of 1.39 per 90 minutes. He’s hit the target twice, averaging 0.46 per 90.

Salah’s finishing has been a real problem. Across those past four games, Salah has recorded a total Expected Goals tally of 1.08, the second-most of any Liverpool player. But he’s recorded just 0.05 xG on Target — for a shot placement ratio of 0.05. It’s not very Salah-like at all.

The Egyptian’s chance creation has fallen too, averaging 0.93 per 90 across his past four games, without a single big chance created. Maybe the contract talks were playing on his mind. And now’s the time for him to get back up and running.
