Liverpool have got a decision to make over the left wing following Luis Diaz’s transfer to Bayern Munich. There is talent on the books - that much is for sure - with Cody Gakpo a more than adequate option to take over full-time.
But Gakpo will require rotation - and Rio Ngumoha could be ready to step in and up his minutes. The 16-year-old has shone in preseason and is in line for a new contract when he turns 17 next month.

We could also see Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike fill in on the left when required. There are conversations to be had however about a replacement sourced in the transfer market.
Richard Hughes, the sporting director, has been linked with a move for Rodrygo of Real Madrid but the costs would appear to be spiralling out of control.
The 20-year-old would be MUCH cheaper than Rodrygo both in terms of transfer fee and wages. Lyon are reported to be seeking around €50m for the Belgian - but there is rival interest from Everton and other Premier League teams.
Those two players are named as Liverpool targets to succeed Diaz in a new report from Spanish outlet Fichajes. And it goes on to detail the Reds’ interest in ANOTHER young standout.
It’s Antonio Nusa - the Norway winger who moved to RB Leipzig from Club Brugge last year. Nusa, 20, was followed extensively in Belgium before moving to the Bundesliga side in 2024.
There is a change coming for the Red Bull-owned club - who are set for a financial reset. Xavi Simons, Benjamin Sesko and Castello Lukeba are some of their high-earners destined for a move away this summer.
