One Liverpool wonderkid is now set for a key role after the club's star suffered an unfortunate injury.

It's not a crisis at Anfield, but the pressure is mounting and problems keep piling up for Arne Slot. The October international break probably came at just the perfect time for the Liverpool head-coach.

He's struggling to get the best out of some of his key players like Mo Salah and Florian Wirtz. Meanwhile, at the same time he now has injuries to contend with.

Federico Chiesa had a bit of a knock, which might have been the reason he didn't get on the pitch at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool have also lost Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister continues to have a fitness problem.

Arguably the biggest blow has been the injury of Alisson. He's been one of the best players on the pitch so far this season and his saves have been necessary to prevent Liverpool from suffering further losses.

Thankfully, in Giorgi Mamardashvili the club definitely has an adequate replacement and it's a testament to Richard Hughes' squad building that Liverpool don't have to sweat Alisson's loss too much thanks to the clever signing of the Georgian international.

Mamardashvili isn't the only one who will see his role increase while Alisson is away. Liverpool also brought in Armin Pecsi in the summer, and the Reds have high hopes for the Hungarian goalkeeper.

He is viewed as someone with the potential to become a first choice goalkeeper but for now he's mostly been playing for the club's U21 side.

During the international break he has travelled back to Hungary, where he gave an in-depth interview to M4 Sport. In the interview he was quizzed about his prospects after Alisson's injury and Pecsi confirmed he's now going to be spending more time with the first-team and playing a key back-up role behind the scenes.

“The truth is this next period for me while he [Alisson] comes back is going to be around the first-team squad," Pecsi said.

"I will be with them [the first-team]. I was there in the last league game [against Chelsea], I was helping with the warm-up before the game. After that, I was not named in the squad, but I watch the game from the stands.

“I do the training with them [first-team] so this is how it will look like in the next few weeks.”

Whether he gets any minutes remains to be seen. Liverpool do have a League Cup game coming up where Slot could rotate his options and while Freddie Woodman is more likely to get the nod to start that match, Pecsi could get on the bench.

But this is a long-term picture for the 20-year-old. Liverpool signed Pecsi with the knowledge that they would develop him and build him up to become a first-choice goalkeeper in the coming years, rather than this season.

The current campaign is all about the Hungarian adjusting to English football and understanding the standards at Liverpool.

Alisson's injury will give him the opportunity to learn even more and to be exposed to more opportunities with the first-team, which is going to be an invaluable experience for him.
