Arne Slot could hand a debut to a summer signing at Anfield

The big talking point there was Mohamed Salah earning a recall to the starting XI after being dropped for the 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League three days prior.

That victory ended a run of four straight defeats for the Reds, but they found themselves on the end of another loss in west London as Dango Ouattara, Kevin Schade, and Igor Thiago netted for the Bees.

Now, they face Crystal Palace, who have defeated them twice this term - in the Community Shield on penalties and in the Premier League meeting at Selhurst Park last month.

As Liverpool have games against Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Manchester City on the horizon, the expectation is that Slot will take the opportunity to rotate his squad where possible.

Freddie Woodman is in line to make his first start for the club with Alisson Becker still out injured and Giorgi Mamardashvili likely to be rested.

Jeremie Frimpong’s hamstring injury should see Conor Bradley get the nod at right-back once again and Joe Gomez could be partnered by Wataru Endo in central defence, thus handing Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk a rest.

Andy Robertson is set to replace Milos Kerkez at left-back but midfielders Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones will be assessed.

Alexander Isak missed the trip to the capital over the weekend with a groin issue and is unlikely to be risked even if passed fit which means Hugo Ekitike is likely to continue leading the line.

Elsewhere in attack, Federico Chiesa and talented youngster Rio Ngumoha are pushing to start on the flanks in place of Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Woodman; Bradley, Gomez, Endo, Robertson; Nyoni, Mac Allister; Chiesa, Wirtz, Ngumoha; Ekitike.

Injured: Alisson, Frimpong, Leoni

Doubts: Isak, Gravenberch, Jones
