Lloris, Carrasquilla, Suárez headline the Best XI of Champions Cup Round of 16

MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup concluded its Round of 16 stage following 16 exciting matches over the past two weeks.
There were many excellent individual performances over the past two weeks, yet these 11 players stood out the most in their respective positions.
Goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris, Los Angeles FC – The French goalkeeper was key in the series against Columbus Crew, helping LAFC win 4-2 on aggregate with six saves and a clean sheet.
Defenders
Édier Ocampo, Vancouver Whitecaps FC – The Colombian excelled in defensive duties and attack, contributing five steals and a goal in the series against CF Monterrey.
Jesús Angulo, Tigres UANL – Angulo captained Tigres with a dominant defensive display in the team’s 3-1 second-leg win against FC Cincinnati. The Mexican defender provided nine steals and a 92 percent pass completion across 180 minutes.
Willer Ditta, Cruz Azul – Ditta commanded Cruz Azul’s backline with seven steals and a 92 percent pass completion in the series while helping La Máquina secure a clean sheet in the first leg against the Seattle Sounders.
Julián Aude, LA Galaxy – Aude was key in LA Galaxy’s comeback against CS Herediano in the second leg, opening the scoring in the 4-1 win for the California side. The Argentine defender contributed six steals and a 90 percent pass completion over both legs.
Midfielders
Brian Rodríguez, Club América – The Uruguayan winger was the driving force for Club América against CD Guadalajara in the second leg of the Clasico de México, with the opening goal and an assist in the team’s 4-nil victory.
Álvaro Fidalgo, Club América – Fidalgo was another of the main orchestrators of América’s comeback against their archrivals CD Guadalajara, registering 13 steals and completing 94 percent of his passes.
Adalberto Carrasquilla, Pumas UNAM – The reigning Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year led Pumas’ midfield against LD Alajuelense, providing an assist in the team’s 2-nil win in the first leg and contributing defensively with a total seven steals in the series.
Juan Brunetta, Tigres UANL – The Argentine midfielder had a superb 90 minutes in the second leg against FC Cincinnati, being directly involved in all three goals in the 3-1 win for Tigres with a brace and two assists.
Forwards
Luis Suárez, Inter Miami CF – The Uruguayan starred for Inter Miami over both legs against Cavalier FC, striking a goal in each encounter and recording 11 shots as the Florida side won 4-nil on aggregate.
Denis Bouanga, Los Angeles FC – Bouanga was instrumental for LAFC against Columbus Crew, scoring three of the team’s four goals in the series. With his goal in the second-leg, Bouanga reached 10 goals all-time in the tournament.
