Awards and setbacks

While we approach the decisive phase of the season, our loaned-out talents are gaining valuable experience across Europe. From the German Bundesliga to the English Championship – we're taking a look at the current form of our loan players. Who's shining as a regular starter, who's celebrated emotional first goals, and who's fighting back after setbacks?

Adam Daghim (VfL Wolfsburg)

The young Dane is racking up valuable minutes at the highest level in the German Bundesliga. With the Wolves currently battling relegation, the lightning-fast striker has already made an impressive 22 appearances. With two goals and two assists, he's already made his mark in the top flight, most recently causing havoc in opposing defences as a late substitute. During the current international break, Adam will be reunited with Clement Bischoff with the Danish U21 team.

Bobby Clark (Derby County)

Bobby Clark is truly flourishing in England's Championship. The midfield creator has established himself as a key player for the promotion hopefuls and has been in the starting XI almost always recently. The numbers speak for themselves: 41 appearances, four goals, and three assists. This consistency hasn't gone unnoticed, as Bobby was named Young Player of the Month by the EFL in January.

Lucas Gourna-Douath (Le Havre AC)

France seems to suit Lucas well. He needed no time to settle in after his move to Le Havre AC in January and immediately became an undisputed starter. In his nine appearances so far, he has played almost every minute. With his quality in defensive midfield, he is currently helping France's oldest football club in their fight to avoid relegation, with the port city team currently holding a five-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Leandro Morgalla (VfL Bochum)

Leandro's season in Germany's 2nd Bundesliga has been a rollercoaster ride. While he was a regular starter in the autumn, he has recently been frequently switching between the bench and the starting line-up for the tenth-placed team. The versatile defender is usually deployed as a right-back, but also helps out in central defence in front of goalkeeper Timo Horn. A real highlight came in mid-March: he scored his first professional goal in the 90th minute against Hertha Berlin from a corner, securing a crucial equaliser. This run of form was rewarded with a call-up to the German U21 squad for the European Championship qualifiers.

Gaoussou Diakite (FC Lausanne-Sport)

Versatile and a constant presence: Gaoussou Diakite is a key player for the Swiss first-division club. The 20-year-old Malian, who even gained experience at the Africa Cup of Nations in the winter, has been a regular starter for Lausanne. The attacking midfielder has also impressed in Europe, reaching the knockout stage of the UEFA Conference League with his loan club. His overall record of 11 goals and 6 assists in 42 appearances is impressive, even though his last goal came at the end of January.

Hendry Blank (Hannover 96)

Unfortunately, spring has been a tough one for Hendry in Hannover. After enjoying regular playing time in the autumn, he hasn't made the squad for the second-division club's last three matches. Despite the tough competition for playing time at the fifth-placed team, coach Christian Titz recently offered his support, praising our loanee's steady development and the role he can still play by the end of the season: "Hendry has been and will continue to be important for us throughout the season. He has a positive presence and is by no means written off." The defender currently has 12 appearances for Hannover.

Zeteny Jano (Grazer AK)

Finally, there is some less positive news from Styria. Zeteny, who was a regular starter for GAK in the autumn, is still suffering from the effects of a serious ligament injury sustained in November. It is expected that the attacking midfielder will unfortunately be unavailable for the remainder of the season. We wish him a speedy recovery!
