VfL Wolfsburg and Maximilian Arnold will further their relationship long-term, as Wolfsburger Allgemeine and Aller-Zeitung report.
Both parties have supposedly reached an agreement to extend his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has reportedly lowered his salary demands and an official announcement to confirm the new deal is expected soon.
Negotiations had been dragging on for the past few weeks. For a long time, there was disagreement regarding the contract length.
While Arnold reportedly insisted on a three-year extension, VfL Wolfsburg only wanted to offer the midfielder a contract until 2028.
Now, according to the two reports, the player and the Lower Saxony club have agreed on two years with an option to extend for a further year.
According to the newspaper group, Arnold is also expected to take on a management role after his playing career ends.
A follow-up contract, valid for at least two years, will take effect as soon as the midfielder decides to hang up the boots.
