Lois Openda open to RB Leipzig exit | OneFootball

RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda is open to leaving the club this summer in search of a new challenge, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The 25-year-old joined Leipzig in 2023 after a prolific spell at RC Lens. He bagged 28 goals and seven assists across all competitions in his debut season to become one of Europe’s most potent forwards.

However, the 2024–25 campaign was relatively unspectacular, with the striker tallying just 13 goals and seven assists.

Openda’s drop in form unsurprisingly coincided with a seventh-place finish for Leipzig during the recently concluded Bundesliga season.

A move away from the Red Bull Arena is now on the cards for Openda, who hinted at a possible exit earlier this year if his current employers fail to qualify for the Champions League.

“Last season, I played in this competition for the first time; I really want us to qualify again,” he told Sky Germany in April.

“Yes, some big clubs know me. The Champions League is very important to me.”

Leipzig have set a price tag of around €60 million – €17m more than they paid back in 2023 – to sanction a sale this summer.

Openda, whose current deal runs until 2028, has been linked with several clubs in the past, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

He is not the only Leipzig attacker who could be on his way out before the September deadline, as Benjamin Sesko continues to attract interest from Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Antonio Nusa has also been linked with an exit, with long-term admirers Chelsea believed to be keeping an eye on the winger.
