A trip to Bayer Leverkusen will see our Young Bulls try to continue their remarkable UEFA Youth League run. Our youngsters are in action tomorrow at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, named after a German chemist, at 14:00 CET.
Our side want to build on ten points from four matches with a success at the German champions' youngsters that would see us cement our spot in the top eight of the Youth League table and ensure we remain in the competition next spring - as part of the top 24. The German outfit do not have such a formidable record in the U19 competition, failing to make it beyond the group stage in six attempts so far. Things look more promising for them in the new-look competition, with wins against Feyenoord and AC Milan followed by a draw against Brest, before a 1-4 defeat at Liverpool. Most of the young Leverkusen squad play in the U19 DFB Youth League -in which they are used to success, taking 26 from 30 possible points.
Daniel Beichler's side have nothing to fear, however, with their fantastic form on the European stage behind them. Competition top scorer Phillip Verhounig has helped his side to the second most prolific attack in the competition, and another win would all but confirm our place in the top eight.
Leverkusen play - much like the first team - with a huge focus on possession. They have seven points and are a good, talented team who are out to play great football. We have to take away their enthusiasm from the first second on with our style of play. It's a great challenge to try to hurt them with our intensity. If we have the ball, we want to be very focused and positive. We have some real speed going forward that we want to use. We are well prepared and are looking forward to it!
