Lorient working on season-long loan for Souleymane Faye from Sporting CP

Lorient are working on a loan for Sporting CP’s Senegal international Souleymane Faye as they begin rebuilding under new head coach Alexandre Dujeux.

According to L'Équipe, the Brittany club have targeted the 23-year-old attacking midfielder as they prioritise that position in this summer’s recruitment.

Faye joined Sporting from Granada in January for a little over €6m and has one cap for Senegal. He could leave Lisbon temporarily to secure more minutes, with Lorient positioning themselves as takers for a one-season loan.

He has made nine appearances for Sporting. The midfielder is under contract with the Lisbon club until June 2030.

Lorient are understood to have already begun steps to make the deal happen. If finalised, the move would be intended to hand Faye more game time.
