Nottingham Forest deadline-day signing Luca Netz has had only a 76th-minute Premier League cameo so far, with Forest already 3-0 down at Leeds United, yet the 22-year-old showed promise.

Nottingham Post reports that he was omitted from Forest’s Europa League knockout squad, so the league is his only route to minutes. Vitor Pereira did not name him among the substitutes for last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

He is said to be popular in the dressing room, though he still has convincing to do with his new head coach. Sean Dyche previously framed the move as future-focused while not ruling out an immediate role.

Netz has long eyed England, turning down Manchester City at 15. His Elland Road run-out realised what he once called a childhood dream to play in the Premier League.

He is seen as a modern wing-back, quick and left-footed, comfortable in different shapes. He can take set pieces and, if confident, could add more goal threat. His impassive look on the pitch should not be misread.

Defensive one-on-ones remain a work in progress. In attack he often chose safer passes and too rarely hit the byline, with confidence affected by rotation with rival Lukas Ullrich.

The late-window switch from Borussia Monchengladbach, where he made 124 appearances with 18 assists and three goals, cost about £2 million and runs for four and a half years. Patience and training-ground work may yet bring further chances.
