With about two months until the 2026 World Cup, Flamengo midfielder Lucas Paquetá says representing Brazil remains his dream, and that club form will be his focus as Carlo Ancelotti prepares to name his squad.

According to Coluna Do Fla, speaking after Flamengo’s win, Paquetá noted he knows what is required, stressing he must work at his club and do his best. He added he has spent seven years with the national team and intends to keep earning selection through performances.

Since returning to Flamengo in January, Paquetá has played 16 matches and scored five goals. Although a substitute against Santos, he is usually a starter under Leonardo Jardim.

Brazil, fifth in the FIFA rankings, are top seeds in Group C and will face Morocco, Scotland and Haiti. The opener is against Morocco on 13 June.

The squad announcement is scheduled for 18 May, with preparation beginning on 25 May and travel to the United States on one June.

Paquetá remains available for Flamengo’s next assignment, away to Cusco (PER) at Estádio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Peru. Kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time on Wednesday eight April, in the first round of the Copa Libertadores.
