Lucas Veríssimo is scheduled to land in São Paulo at 22:00 on Thursday 12, though Santos are treating the plan with caution due to regional disruption.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the defender remains in Qatar amid instability in the Middle East and airspace restrictions, which have complicated departures and triggered flight cancellations and changes. He has not yet reported to Santos after being signed.

Head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda said he has been in regular contact with Veríssimo and has also exchanged information with the player’s current club through a personal link with their coach. He added that sporting director Alexandre Mattos and the fitness coach speak to the defender daily, while the club monitors the situation.

Vojvoda accepted the matter is outside the club’s control and stressed that family welfare comes first for everyone affected in the area.

Veríssimo has signed a three-season contract, worth about R$ 25 million in annual instalments, and is viewed internally as a key addition to reinforce a defence that has struggled. The coaching staff await his arrival to strengthen the back line for the remainder of the season.
