Former Serie A title winner Luciano Spalletti is now set to part ways with the Italian national team and this comes after a damaging 3-0 loss to Norway some days ago.

The former Napoli and Inter manager’s job was under threat yesterday and this was widely covered, with reports speaking of a key meeting involving Spalletti and the FIGC.

Sky Italia have now confirmed that the veteran is set to depart the Azzurri. He will soon make his decision public and will also reveal the reason behind his stance.

Quite the same has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who is confident that the journey will end.

As things stand, Stefano Pioli is the favourite to take over and Daniele de Rossi has also been linked with a move.

Spalletti’s time as the Azzurri boss has been underwhelming as he oversaw a poor Euros campaign last year.
