Luis Enrique has added a third Champions League to his managerial haul, underlining an outstanding record in finals. According to L'Équipe, he has now won 16 of his 19 showpieces.
His first final as a coach brought the Copa del Rey on 30 May 2015, Barcelona beating Athletic Bilbao 3-1 at the Camp Nou as Lionel Messi struck twice and Neymar finished after a Luis Suarez burst.
Six days later came a 3-1 Champions League triumph over Juventus in Berlin, Ivan Rakitic scoring early before Suarez and Neymar late on, with Messi the source of all three goals.
Then the wild 5-4 extra-time Super Cup win against Sevilla in Tbilisi, Messi curling in two direct free-kicks, Barcelona surging 4-1 ahead, being pegged back, and Pedro deciding it in the 115th minute.
He completed 2015 by lifting the Club World Cup, a 3-0 win over River Plate in Yokohama, Messi opening despite a handball, with Suarez netting twice and Neymar supplying two assists.
Further silverware followed in 2016, Sevilla beaten 2-0 after extra time in the Copa del Rey despite Javier Mascherano’s first-half red card, with Messi setting up Jordi Alba on 97 minutes and Neymar on 120+2. Barcelona also cruised past Sevilla in the Supercopa de España, 2-0 away then 3-0 at home, Arda Turan starring as Samuel Umtiti’s conceded penalty was saved by Claudio Bravo.
His Barça stint ended with a 3-1 Copa del Rey win over Alavés in May 2017, André Gomes impressing as Messi and Neymar both recorded a goal and an assist.
At Paris, the Trophée des Champions arrived on 3 January 2024, PSG beating Toulouse 2-0 at the Parc des Princes thanks to Lee Kang-in and Kylian Mbappé after Ousmane Dembélé dazzled. The Coupe de France followed in May, a 2-1 win over Lyon secured by Dembélé and Fabián Ruiz, with Mbappé playing his final PSG match without scoring.
In 2025, Dembélé’s late strike edged Monaco 1-0 in the Trophée des Champions in Doha, then PSG beat Reims 3-0 in the Coupe de France, Bradley Barcola scoring twice from two Désiré Doué assists.
A week later came a historic 5-0 dismantling of Inter Milan in Munich, the widest winning margin in a European Cup final, before Tottenham were overturned in the Super Cup in Udine, 2-2 then 4-3 on penalties. Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos forced extra time after Paris trailed 0-2 on 85 minutes, and new signing Lucas Chevalier, at fault for Spurs’ second, saved Micky van de Ven’s spot-kick in the shootout.
