FC Barcelona have been on the rise in sporting stature since Hansi Flick’s arrival at the start of the 2024/25 season. One of his first moves as head coach was to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.
Despite consistent injury and registration issues throughout his first season back at the club, the Spaniard managed to make an impact in key moments. However, he has hit a slump in recent months.
Flick chose Fermin over Olmo in the game against Valencia last weekend and, although he came off the bench and provided a good assist, speculation about his future remains rife. According to Fichajes, PSG and Luis Enrique want the 27-year-old midfielder.
The Spanish tactician has previously worked with the player during their time together with the Spanish national team, and he is keen on signing him from Barcelona. With Fermin’s emergence, Olmo’s importance to the team could diminish.

When fit and in form, Olmo is a player any coach would love to have. He is excellent at playing in between the lines and has the vision to do things other players can only think of. Unfortunately, things have not played out as expected in recent months.
As per the report, Barcelona are said to be demanding €70 million for his departure. That would help them recoup slightly more than they paid when signing him from Leipzig, and, considering his age and the fact that he is in the prime years of his career, it would be an excellent deal.
However, Olmo still has a lot to offer Flick’s team. All it could take is one performance to snap back into form, and Barcelona should not be so hasty in deciding his future. Let us wait and see whether anything comes of this PSG interest and whether Olmo can work his way back into the starting XI.
