Luis Palma starring for Honduras could earn home a move from Celtic

Luis Palma last night scored for Honduras as they beat Curacao 2-1 to seal his nation a place in the knockout stage of the Gold Cup, with a quarter final tie on Sunday against Panama.

The Celtic winger hit the winner and was the toast of his country, and it will have given him a great confidence booster after his frustrating and disappointing campaign at club level.

Luis spent the last part of the season on loan at Greek Champions AEK Athens but failed to make an impact and will now report back to Celtic after international duty. It certainly appears to be the case that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t see the Honduran talisman to be part of his plans at Celtic and if it’s possible a transfer is the club’s preferred option at this stage while another loan move may be the other option.

However so far they’ve been no potential suitors emerging so hopefully his good form on the international scene is not going unnoticed. That certainly was a very special – and important goal he scored, as it took Honduras through the quarter-finals and a tie against Panama where they will fancy their chances.

Luis Palma is clearly a decent player

Luis is clearly a decent player on his day, but sometimes certain players don’t suit certain clubs, and that seems to be the case with Luis and Celtic. It’s always been a case put forward by some of the writers on The Celtic Star that Luis Palma would be better as a number 10 rather than a winger, playing that Tom Rogic role but we’re unlikely to find out.

Performing well for his country will hopefully attract interest, and hopefully it will pave the way for his exit which is in the best interests of both the club and the very talented player.
