Currently playing for Inter Miami on the farewell tour of his remarkable career, Luis Suarez has spoken out about one of his former managers.

The forward has been linking back up with former teammate Lionel Messi in the USA after featuring for Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona throughout his career.

In a report from The Athletic, quoting an interview with DSports Uruguay earlier this week, Suarez spoke out about his experience with the Uruguay national team before he announced his retirement last month.

He said: "There were situations that occurred at the Copa America that hurt to see, that I didn’t talk about for the good of the group.

"It’s going to continue to happen. The players are going to reach a limit and explode.

"There were players who told me, ‘Luis, I’ll play the Copa America and then I won’t play again.’ That tells you that we’re nearing a difficult situation. Then you get over it and you return because you love your country."

The chaos of the Uruguay national team

Under the leadership of Marcelo Bielsa, Uruguay have been in tumultuous form, progressing to the Copa America semi-finals, before the occasion was marred when violence broke out in the stands at full-time which led to Darwin Nunez being suspended from international football - a ban which the AUF are currently appealing.

Regardless, it seems as though the ex-Red is opening up about some of the more deep-rooted issues within the side beyond the carnage that ensued this summer.

He added: "There were a lot of players who set up a meeting (with Bielsa) to ask the coach to at the very least greet us with a good morning.

“He wouldn’t even say hello. I had a five-minute meeting with him as a leader of the team and in the end, he only responded with a ‘thank you very much."

While it is yet to be seen if any other players will speak out about their experiences with Bielsa while away on international duty, the head coach is bound to be under pressure soon with Uruguay without a win in their last six matches.

Suarez had 116 goal contributions for Liverpool during his time with the Reds and before retiring from international football last month, he had netted 69 times for his national team.
