FLW's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit has given his reaction to Ryan Howsam revealing that he could re-enter the race to buy the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday are back to square one in their search for new ownership after the proposed takeover by James Bord's consortium collapsed.

Wednesday have been on the market since former owner Dejphon Chansiri put the club into administration in October, but over four months later, a takeover deal is still yet to be completed.

It looked as though the Owls had found a buyer when Bord's consortium was named as the preferred bidder on Christmas Eve, but amid doubts over whether they would receive approval from the EFL, they pulled out of the running last week, claiming that their bid, which has since been revealed to have been worth a staggering £47.8 million, did not reflect the club's true valuation.

Sheffield-born businessman Ryan Howsam teamed up with ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan to explore a potential move for the Owls last year before deciding against submitting a formal bid, but he now appears to be reconsidering his position.

When asked for his thoughts on Howsam's comments, FLW's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick McKenna said that he would be open to him taking over at Hillsborough, but he admitted that, with the clock ticking, it is time for interested parties to put bids on the table.

"At this stage, ultimately the highest bid is going to win," Patrick told FLW.

"If Ryan Howsam is still interested and he's got a team behind him, then go ahead and put a bid in.

"Hopefully any plans he has are sustainable and he will be looking to do a big rebuild of Sheffield Wednesday.

"But there is a very limited time frame for a sale, and the patience of the fans isn't endless, so we need people to either put up or shut up.

"He has to make the next move, and he needs to be making it quickly, make sure he's got a bid in and get in contact with the administrators.

"I'm not really for or against him at this stage, but I can only stress that now isn't the time to be considering a move.

"If you want the club, then make a move."

Simon Jordan, Sheffield Wednesday reveal could impact Ryan Howsam takeover plans

Howsam was working closely with Jordan as the pair mulled over a move for Wednesday last year, but after the ex-Palace chief confirmed he would not reignite his interest in a deal, it remains to be seen whether that will change his plans.

While Jordan had a turbulent spell in charge at Selhurst Park, he is a popular figure due to his work as a pundit on talkSPORT, and having regularly spoken of his admiration for the Owls over the years, he would likely have been welcomed by the Hillsborough faithful.

Given that little is known about him, there may be some unease among Wednesday supporters about Howsam potentially taking over on his own, but he is clearly a wealthy individual who could be able to translate his business success into the football world.
