On the eve of the friendly match between the Netherlands and Norway, Donyell Malen spoke at a press conference.
His arrival in Rome has guaranteed the striker playing time, and under Gian Piero Gasperini’s guidance, the former Borussia Dortmund player has rediscovered his physical brilliance and goalscoring prowess.
Malen opened the press conference with a joke about his arrival in Rome: “I spoke to Koeman about it, and fortunately, he agreed.”
Regarding adaptation and the importance of playing consistently, he added: “I haven’t been in Italy long, but football suits me. When you make a move like this, you also think about the World Cup: it becomes essential to play.”
He then touched on the 2021 and 2024 European Championships, in which he played with the Netherlands: “I’ve been in two major tournaments. Personally, it went well, but as a team, we could have done better.”
Finally, he emphasized how Gasperini’s game is having a positive impact: “It’s not always easy; you really have to step up a gear, but it’s an honor to be in the national team, and even in ten minutes you can make a difference. Right now I feel like a good striker, in good form. This is also thanks to the club. At Roma, we attack and apply a lot of pressure.”
