Man City and Leicester to kick-off first ever Perth Football Cup | OneFootball

Manchester City and Leicester City are getting ready to kick-off this summer's Perth International Football Cup, alongside West Ham United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Tournament organisers TEG Sport have confirmed the upcoming fixtures spanning August and September in Australia, marking the first time any of the four clubs have visited the nation, reinforcing the growing demand for women's football across the globe.

Presented by Ninja, the competition will see two finals at HBF Park, with the opening game taking place between Manchester City and Leicester City on Wednesday 28 August. This will be followed up by West Ham taking on PSG the next day.

A few days later on Sunday 1 September, the Optus Stadium will play host to a doubleheader of action with the semi-finals winner taking on each other, and the other two teams playing beforehand.

Pre-seasons tours take place in the summer and see clubs travel abroad to help them give themselves exposure, as well as do everything possible to increase their fitness levels.

Leading Women's Super League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea will also be heading overseas this summer for a handful of exhibition matches in the United States. On top of playing each other, the Gunners will be based in Washington DC from 15-26 August to take on NWSL side Washington Spirit. The Blues are jetting to New Jersey to also take on 2023 NWSL champions NJ/NY Gotham.

None of the European clubs taking part in the tournament in Perth have yet announced their squads, but it's expected they will be looking to take their strongest players in a bid to prepare for the season.

The three WSL clubs will have just a few weeks after touching down back in the UK until the start of the new 2024/25 campaign, beginning on the weekend of 21-22 September.

The final games of the campaign will take place on the weekend of 10-11 May 2025.
