City suffered a 3-0 loss at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid, leaving them with a very difficult task ahead of the return leg at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite the setback, City captain Bernardo Silva has insisted that his team believes a comeback is possible.
Speaking after the match, the Portuguese midfielder acknowledged the frustration within the squad, especially after failing to score in Madrid.
“It’s very frustrating not to have scored, but we believe it’s possible because a lot can happen in football.
“At halftime, we said, ‘This is very bad and a lot of things shouldn’t have happened, but with one goal, we were still in the tie.”
The situation became even more complicated once Real Madrid added two more goals in the second half.
“At 3-0, it’s more difficult. Now we feel bad and we see everything as very bleak, but tomorrow is a different day and I’m sure that next week in the match we’ll feel that we can go through.

“Now is the time to reflect and see what we didn’t do well. Next week we’ll prepare ourselves and hopefully achieve something,” he explained.
Manchester City now need to overturn a three-goal deficit to stay in the competition and such comebacks are extremely rare in the Champions League.
After the match, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola also reflected on the team’s performance and admitted that the atmosphere inside the Santiago Bernabéu affected his players.
According to him, the team lost control of the match after conceding the first goal.
The former Barcelona manager admitted that his team was never in control and the atmosphere only made life difficult for them.
“We didn’t control the atmosphere and let our emotions change the game. We were feeling confident and comfortable, but after the 0-1, we completely lost control.
“We didn’t control the transitions and the second plays. When you play against Real Madrid, you pay for it,” he said.
