Another City defender was forced off in latest victory

Manchester City kept the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with a stoppage-time victory over Liverpool on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s men emerged 2-1 victors at Anfield to keep the gap to six points in the title race.

Bernardo Silva recovered from a knock that he suffered against Tottenham - forcing him to miss the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle - to score an important late equaliser, while Ruben Dias returned to first-team action after a lay-off with a hamstring injury that he sustained against Chelsea.

However, they are still struggling with an extended injury list that includes several important players.

City can cut Arsenal’s lead at the summit to just three points on Wednesday should they beat Fulham, but could they welcome back any absentees at the Etihad Stadium?

Here are all the latest Manchester City injury news and return dates...

Jeremy Doku

The Belgian winger has been out with a calf injury that he suffered in the Champions League win over Galatasaray.

He has sat out the past three games, but Guardiola admitted before his side’s trip to Merseyside that the forward is not back in training yet.

Potential return date: vs Newcastle on February 21 (H)

Abdukodir Khusanov

Preferred to the returning Dias at Anfield, Khusanov had put together his longest string of starts since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium.

That, however, could be in danger after he was withdrawn on the hour at Anfield.

The Uzbekistani defender was taken off after he had been kneed in the head by his own goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Guardiola did not offer an update on Khusanov’s condition post-match, but he hailed the young defender’s performance in a huge victory for City’s title hopes.

“Khusanov’s first time in Anfield,” Guardiola said.

“Coming from Uzbekistan, six months in France, coming here, first time here, against [Hugo] Ekitike, [Mohamed] Salah... what a game he played, that guy,"

Potential return date: vs Fulham on February 11 (H)

Josko Gvardiol

First-choice centre-back Gvardiol broke his leg aganist Chelsea on New Year’s Day.

The Croat is sidelined for an extended period, with no further update issued on the 23-year-old since.

His absence has been lightened with the return of Ruben Dias from a hamstring injury, however.

John Stones

Stones has been missing from City’s squads since the 5-4 win at Fulham back in December.

The England international has been struggling with a thigh injury, but Guardiola revealed last week that he had finally returned to training ahead of the Liverpool clash.

That said, Stones was not in the matchday squad at Anfield, while Dias was introduced off the bench on Merseyside.

Potential return date: vs Salford on February 14 (H)

Savinho

The Brazilian winger is edging closer to a return after suffering a quad injury against Sunderland in early January.

His absence meant that City were forced to act in the transfer market, signing Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

Guardiola last updated fans on Savinho’s recovery timeline in late January, saying that he was “still stuck”, but he had “ran on the pitch”.

As such, the Catalan put a tentative “two weeks or three weeks” timeframe on his potential return.

Potential return date: vs Salford on February 14 (H)

Mateo Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic is City’s longest absentee.

The Croatian midfielder is out with an ankle injury which he had successful surgery on back in November.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid man is progressing in his rehabilitation, and could be back in action by March.

Potential return date: March 14 vs West Ham (A)
