Two influential midfielders will be missing against Newcastle
Man City are fearing the worst over Rodri’s injury while Kevin De Bruyne is again likely to miss out this weekend.
The club have now confirmed Rodri suffered ligament damage against Arsenal, but did not give a timeframe for his return, while the Belgian is still struggling with a muscle injury.
Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb are longer-term absentees, as City continue a busy run of fixtures domestically and in Europe heading into the next international break.
Here’s a look at the latest Man City injury news...

Rodri is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after City confirmed in a statement that the midfielder had suffered ligament damage to his right knee.
The midfielder has been in Spain this week consulting specialists after limping off during the first half of City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday.
The game at the Etihad Stadium had been his first start of the season and he was forced off after twisting his knee and going down following minor contact with Thomas Partey.
While no timeframe has been given for a likely return, there have been reports claiming Rodri could miss the rest of the reason.
Potential return date: 2025

De Bruyne was not involved in the match against Arsenal, missing out on the squad entirely, or the Carabao Cup clash with Watford two days later.
The Belgian was forced off at half-time in the Champions League draw with Inter Milan last week, and may also miss the trip to Newcastle this weekend.
“I don’t think it will be long,” Guardiola told reporters this week regarding De Bruyne’s absence. “But he was not able to [face Arsenal], I will not say Watford, I don’t know for Newcastle. But I think it will not be long.”
Potential return date: Tuesday, October 1 vs Slovan Bratislava

City were handed an injury blow during the international break, when Nathan Ake picked up an issue while playing for the Netherlands against Germany.
That has kept the defender out against Brentford, Inter, Arsenal and Watford, and Ake is not expected to return until next month.
“Injured, I think until the next international break,” Guardiola said recently.
“We are unlucky with Nathan - every time he goes [to play for the Netherlands], he comes back injured.”
Potential return date: Sunday October 20, vs Wolves

Having impressed over the summer, Bobb suffered a significant injury just days before the new season.
He required surgery on a fractured leg and City confirmed at the time that he would be out for “three or four months”, which would mean the 21-year-old could potentially return before the end of the year.
