Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas has reportedly penned a contract renewal, thus extending his collaboration with the club until 2029.

The 23-year-old joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2023, arriving as a relative unknown from the OFI Crete. The young custodian first impressed last season while filling in for the injured Ivan Provedel between March and May. His solid displays earned him interest from the likes of Manchester City, Leicester City and Southampton last summer, but eventually stayed put at Lazio.

This season, Marco Baroni identified Mandas as his designated cup goalkeeper, while confirming Provedel as his number one between the posts. Nevertheless, the latter’s shaky performances saw him dropped ahead of the Serie A contest against Venezia, suggesting a change of the guard could ensue sooner rather than later.

As the Roman newspaper reveals, the Greece international has signed a new deal valid until June 2029 with a significantly improved salary. The shot-stopper currently earns €200,000 per season, but thanks to his new contract, his wage will initially reach €800,000 per year before gradually rising to €1 million.
