In a major development, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester City are now considering a swoop for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes.

The 24-year-old attacker has been linked with a departure all summer long, but no formal offers have materialised so far. As such, heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window, it was seen as likely that he would remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool still continue to hold an interest in the Brazilian international, with Manchester City also entering the mix.

Pep Guardiola a big admirer

As per the update from Romano, Manchester City are considering entering the market for a new attacker amidst a slew of imminent departures.

Jack Grealish is set to leave for Everton while Savinho could join Tottenham Hotspur and James McAtee is also likely to depart.

As such, the Cityzens wish to add another forward to their squad, and see Rodrygo as their dream target. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is understood to be a big fan of the Brazilian international.

It must be noted that the Premier League giants held an interest in Rodrygo last summer also and meetings had taken place between the club and his father earlier in 2025 as well.

Real Madrid, for their part, are willing to let Rodrygo leave if he asks for an exit. However, they will seek a significant transfer fee of around €100 million for their prized attacker.

So, it will all likely be up to Rodrygo and what he decides in the coming days. If he seeks a move away, the 24-year-old will have to find a suitor willing to meet Real Madrid’s transfer fee demands of €100 million.
