Man City travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday looking to prove their stuttering start to the season is firmly behind them with a win over Arsenal.
Following back-to-back victories over Manchester United and Napoli, Pep Guardiola’s side appear to have found their rhythm. A win against a direct title rival would be a major statement of intent.
The Cityzens must, however, overcome a significant mental hurdle. They have a poor record in Premier League games immediately following European fixtures and have suffered defeat in their last two visits to Arsenal.
Guardiola has also failed to beat Mikel Arteta in their last four league meetings, a personal run he will be desperate to end.
Guardiola could be boosted by the return of John Stones, who is back in training, though it remains to be seen if he is ready to start.
The manager will be without the injured trio of Rayan Cherki, Omar Marmoush and Mateo Kovačić. Rayan Ait-Nouri is also sidelined with an ankle injury.
Guardiola was, however, able to rest key midfielder Rodri in the second half against Napoli, ensuring he is fresh for this crucial clash.
The attack will be led by the Premier League’s top scorer in Erling Haaland, who has a phenomenal goalscoring record in the city of London.
Possible Manchester City starting XI: Donnarumma; Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Rodri, Silva, Reijnders; Foden, Haaland, Doku.
This Premier League fixture will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 21 September 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30 pm BST.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR, with coverage starting at 4:00 pm BST.
