Manchester United are reportedly weighing up the option of pursuing a January loan deal for out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.
PSG signed Kolo Muani for roughly £70m – including add-ons – from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023. However, he has not had the best time at the Parc des Princes, where club boss Luis Enrique has demonstrated a clear preference for other options.
A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United were offered the chance to land Kolo Muani after Enrique “made it clear” that the France international is not part of his long-term plans.
It was stated that Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea were also presented with the opportunity to sign Kolo Muani.
So far this term, the player has managed just 12 appearances or 416 minutes across all competitions. In that period, he has registered just two goals – hardly a decent return for a team that dominates their league.
However, according to journalist Christopher Michel, United are “taking a closer look” at Kolo Muani despite his recent claims that he is not looking to seal a transfer in the near future.
“fussball.news can confirm a report from the French L’Equipe: Manchester United is certainly considering a transfer.”
“However, after expensive summer transfers, the Red Devils cannot invest on a large scale in the winter, so only a loan deal would be an option for the time being. The contractual situation would easily allow such a model, as Kolo Muani’s contract runs until 2028.”
“The player himself is not yet planning to leave. If coach Luis Enrique continues to rely on him sporadically, the wind could soon change.”
A few days ago, Kolo Muani said about his PSG future amidst the ongoing speculation, “It is up to me to continue to work so that the manager trusts in me. I am keeping my head on my shoulders and I’m going to continue to work.”
When asked whether he still has hope of establishing himself at PSG, he replied, “I hope so.”
Meanwhile, United are back on action on Sunday when they travel to Portman Road to take on Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.
